Small streams will create a BIG river: Creating a successful television web series

There is a Swedish proverb that says many small streams will form a large river. I enjoy this saying and will guide me into the world of monetizing intellectual property via the Internet.  Ads are the first and easiest way to create a revenue stream and keep it going.  You tube has made this available to everyone now. All you have to do is turn on the monetizing function and the amount that you generate is based on CPM or cost per thousand. This is dependent on the niche and where people can navigate to view your property. Your objective should be to get build your brand to obtain at least one thousand views a day.  Once your audience is growing and becoming engaged, you should begin making and selling products that complement your brand.  Products like shirts, cups, mugs, and even books can really jump-start your brand for your television and website.  Direct ad sales and product placement is said should be the next tactic of your strategy.  Now that you have an audience and complementary products for the public, you can now build direct relationships with other brands.  This process can be more involved and you will have to cultivate the relationships. As long as you set your prices correctly it can more than worth it.  When your numbers have reached a level of demand where other sites want to syndicate your content, you will then have to create the proper licensing and contracting. Depending is makes you an offer to syndicate your content make sure you read the fine print and keep in mind to drive those viewers to the main hub of your content. You could also repackage your content for sale via DVD or as a pay per download with extra features. This works well if you are creating scripted content.  Once all these components are present and you have built a great reputation for creating original content, companies will begin to approach you to create original content for them and that is the ultimate objective for anyone with a web series.
